Recognised as one of New Zealand’s leading thoroughbred nurseries and yearling vendors, Trelawney Stud will once again be offering an outstanding draft of yearlings at the William Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale in Sydney in just over three weeks time.

Eight yearlings will make the trip across the Tasman from Trelawney in early April. The draft features two colts by Zabeel, one out of a daughter of Alynda and the other out of the imported mare Clavarias whilst Group Three-winner Galapagos Girl will be represented by her first foal, a colt by Fusaichi Pegasus. A filly by Fusaichi Pegasus out of stakes winner Call Me Lily is also in the draft along with a Giant’s Causeway filly out of the American mare Kristique. First crop sire Galileo is represented by a half brother to a stakes winner out of the Last Tycoon mare Liberty Song and rounding out the line up are two sons of Redoute’s Choice— one out of stakes winner National Treasure, a half sister to Ferragamo, and the other out of Group One-winner Star Satire.
“We have been bringing a quality draft of yearlings to the Easter Sale for a number of years and have achieved some great success,” said Brent Taylor of Trelawney Stud.
“Our 2002 draft produced Group One-winner Mr Celebrity, Only Words who won four Group races and stakes winner and Group One performer Men At Work,” he said. “In 2003 we sold Group Two-winner Renewable and in 2004 South African Derby-winner Wise Son and Astronomia who raced successfully for Darley in Australia before becoming the first member of Darley’s southern hemisphere racing team to join Godolphin,” says Brent.
“We are always trying to improve the quality of our yearlings and this draft is right up there with the best that we have offered,” said Brent. “The Sydney Easter Sale is a truly international sale and demands nothing less than the highest quality yearlings,” he said.
Group One winners sold by Trelawney Stud in recent times include: Hill Of Grace (NZ) (Zabeel), Amalfi (NZ) (Carnegie), The Mighty Lions (NZ) (Grosvenor), Pernod (NZ) (Centaine), Taatletail (NZ) (Faltaat), Vouvray (NZ) (Zabeel) Mr Celebrity (NZ) (Peintre Celebre) Wahid (NZ) (Almutawakel) and The Duke (NZ) (Zabeel).
