Trelawney Offer Van Nistelrooy Colt at RTR 12 Nov 2007
Trelawney Stud will offer just the one two-year-old at the upcoming New Zealand Ready-to-Run Sale next week, a gelding by exciting young sire, Van Nistelrooy (USA) (Storm Cat). Lot 401, he will be sold through Maryann Simons’ Mana Park consignment.

A half brother to the stakes winner Astronomia (Aus) (King’s Best), who has notched up a stakes win in the USA and stakes placings in Australia to date, the colt stopped the clock in his 200m breeze-up in 10.68 seconds. There should be plenty of interest in the colt from all segments of the buying bench considering the success his sire has achieved in the last three months.

With his oldest crop just three-year-olds, Van Nistelrooy has enjoyed a great run of success in the last two weeks, with eight individual winners added to his Southern Hemisphere tally which already includes the Champion Juvenile of Singapore, Onceuponatime (NZ), stakes winner in Australia Vandalo (NZ), and the stakes performers Vanny Fair (NZ) and Boundless (NZ). From his first Southern Hemisphere crop, Van Nistelrooy has left fifteen individual winners and already has three wins on the board from his second crop, now two-year-olds.

In the Northern Hemisphere, Van Nistelrooy has had 55 runners and 23 individual winners including the Grade One-winner Set Play (USA) to his credit along with Group Two-winner Strike The Deal and Group Three-winners Raymi Coya (USA) and Elusive Lady (USA). He has sired a total of five stakes winners from his first Northern Hemisphere crop, currently two-year-olds.

“This colt is very typical of the types that Van Nistelrooy leaves,” said Brent Taylor of Trelawney Stud. “He is big, strong and naturally athletic with a fantastic temperament,” he said. “He has furnished into a lovely colt and I’m sure that he will take the eye of a number of buyers at the sale in just over a week’s time” said Brent.
