THE FARM

Since its establishment more than 70 years ago, Trelawney Stud has been lauded as one of the most successful stud farms in Australasia. Situated in Cambridge, New Zealand, the farm encompasses over 460 acres of highly fertile, prime farm land that produces high quality pasture and has a topography ideal for growing race horses.

As New Zealand’s longest running commercial thoroughbred stud farm, the Trelawney brand has been carried to success by some of the best racehorses New Zealand has produced including the legendary Tulloch (NZ). This success continues today through modern farm management techniques and horse management to ensure that horses bred and raised at Trelawney receive the best possible start in life.

Not only does Trelawney lend itself to the production of great racehorses, but the farm is also home to a flock of between 500 and 600 breeding ewes and at times, between 200 and 300 head of cattle are grazing the land. Pasture replacement, soil samples and pasture samples are all management techniques used to regularly monitor the quality of the pasture produced.

We see farming at Trelawney to be a privelage and through a combination of tradition and modern management techniques, we are ensuring the farm will continue to produce strong, well conformed racehorses.

It is our belief that “Great Starts make for Great Finishes” and this not only includes the farm and facilities, but also the people. At Trelawney we have a team of professionals dedicated to ensuring the best care and attention for each and every horse on the farm.
